Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.
She can't believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.
Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.
They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.
War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.
“We could really use the Avengers right about now."
"Screw that. We need Loki," Daemon retorted."
There are absolutely no words to explain just how excited I was to finally get Opposition in my hands. Obsidian, the first book in the Lux series, was the first Jennifer L Armentrout novel I read back in 2011 a few months prior to release. It was one of the first review books I ever got as a blogger and so it makes this series very very special to me. It's fair to say I was obsessed and I have read every single JLA book since and loved all of them. Opposition saw me very mixed prior to reading. I could not wait to find out what was going to happen but at the same time I was aware that this is the final book in the series and no way did I want it to end and was I ready to say goodbye to these characters.
Opposition was everything I thought it would be and so much more. The most amazing thing about Jen is that she knows what her readers want, and more importantly she listens to them and knows what they are expecting. Because of this you think you know where the story is going and then all of a sudden BAM there's a huge twist and she totally throws you off and you don't know what the heck is going to happen. Opposition just about gave me heart failure. It is a rollercoaster of emotions and you go from being so happy to crying hysterically and thinking Jen is going to break us.
Jennifer L Armentrout is just the best author I have ever come across. And I don't say this because I've been friends with her for years. She really is. She knows how to write. I feel like she was already a phenomenally amazing writer years ago when her debut came out and now, after reading everything she has ever put out multiple times, she can still surprise me and that shows how fantastic she is. No book is the same as the other, especially in her YA fantasy and sci-fi series. She completely throws you off the trail. She is just phenomenal. And no matter what heartbreak she puts you through you can guarantee that she will do the story and the characters and her readers justice. Opposition ended absolutely phenomenally and I can't think of a more perfect ending for the Lux series... though I wouldn't object to a spin-off series or even a novella.
Daemon and Kat will always remain some of my favourite characters in YA literature. Daemon went form being a total jerk in the beginning to being the most swoon-worthy and loving boy you could ever wish for. Kat went from being total book-nerd to kick-ass alien fighting heroine. They went through so much in the series and I loved seeing everything be worth it for them.
Opposition was absolute perfection. It was the perfect ending for the Lux series. If you haven't yet read the Lux series I highly recommend it. It's an action-packed, heart-stopping and breath-taking story of romance, betrayal and danger. It has reached it's finale and it was perfect. It is definitely one of those series that I will re-read at least once a year just because it is such a perfect series. I loved every moment of it and I can't wait for Jen to bring out a new series that I can get just as addicted to and fall just as much in love with as this one. It's been an emotional ride to the end but it was so worth it and it will always have a special place in my heart.
"I broke every rule of my kind to heal you and keep you with me. I … burned down an entire city to keep you safe. I’ve killed for you. Did you think I’d forget what you mean to me? That anything in this world— in any world— would be stronger than my love for you?"
