K-Books Top 5 Breakthrough Authors

Hey Guys,
So I always like to do this little post each year. It's the Top 5 new-to-me authors that I have read for the first time this year and who really blew me away.

5. Rachel Morgan, author of the Creepy Hollow Series

This year I devoured the first three books from the Creepy Hollow series and I absolutely adored them. They were utterly fantastic and I cannot wait to read the rest of this series. Rachel is definitely an author I will be looking out for in the future.

Visit her Website HERE
Find her on TWITTER

4. Alwyn Hamilton, author of the Rebel of the Sands Series

This year I read Alwyn's debut, Rebel of the Sands, and I fell head over heels in love with her writing, characters and story-telling. I was also thrilled to meet her at this years YALC. I loved her book so much and I am so so excited for the sequel coming out next year. She is definitely an auto-buy author for me now.

3. Lauren James, author of The Next Together Series

This year I met the wonderful Lauren James at YALC and after meeting her went ahead and read her The Next Together Series and it totally blew me away. Lauren has to be one of the most intelligent authors I have read as her series is so cleverly done and thought out. It's really unique and different to anything I have read before.

2. VE Schwab, author of Vicious, Darkest Shade of Magic Series and Monsters of Verity Series

Another author I was so happy to have met at this years YALC. I read VE Schwab for the first time this year and I cannot believe what I was missing out on. Her books are abosolutely amazing. I loved Vicious and This Savage Song and I cannot wait to read the rest of her stuff. On my 2017 to-read list is the rest of her books. She is a definite auto-buy author.

1. Elly Blake, author of Frostblood Series

Frostblood isn't out until January 2017 but I was lucky enough to read an ARC of the book and I loved every single moment of it. She is such a fantastic author and her book just utterly blew me away. I can't wait for the rest of her Frostblood series and whatever may come after. I will definitely be reading anything and everything she may write.

Top 10 of 2016: Day 5 - Best Books I'm Looking Forward To in 2017

Hey Guys,
I've had so much fun this week showing you my Top 10 of 2016... I'm now going to share with you the last official Top 10. I will be posting tomorrow my Top 5 Breakthrough authors, the 5 authors that were new-to-me this year that blew me away!

Anyway here they are my top 10 books that I cannot wait for next year. There are many more but I tried to choose ones that have already had covers revealed or at least cover placeholds.

10. The Struggle (Titan Series #3) / Till Death by Jennifer L Armentrout

Okay, so I am totally cheating here by including two books in one but they're both by the same author so that's totally allowed right?

The Struggle is the third book in The Titan Series, the spin off from my fave series of all time, Covenant Series. Book 2 in this series had such a big cliffhanger ending (DAMN YOU JEN!!!) so I cannot wait to see what is going to happen.

Publication Date: March 20, 2017

Till Death is a new adult thriller / mystery / romance novel from Jen and although I'm not a big fan of thrillers I loved Jen's other thrillers so I cannot wait to read this one.

Publication Date: February 28, 2017

9. Caraval by Stephanie Garber

Caraval is a book that sounds like it is right up my street. I am so excited to get my hands on this book.
Caraval is the story of two sisters who escape from their evil father's home and find themselves in the midst of a deadly and legendary game.

Publication Date: January 31, 2017

8. Perfect (Flawed #2) by Cecelia Ahern

Flawed was one of my favourite books of the year so naturally Perfect is one of my most anticipated reads of the year.

Perfect follows the story of Celestine after she was branded as Flawed. She is now on the run but is harbouring a powerful secret. One that could destroy the whole Flawed society.

Publication Date: April 6, 2017

7. Wing Jones by Katherine Webber

Right from the moment I heard about this one I couldn't wait for it. Having met Katherine a few times at YALC (she is the sweetest person ever!) I just can't wait to read her book.

Wing Jones follows the story of Wing, a mixed-race girl who has often found herself caught between worlds, discovers a hidden talent for running. Wing's speed could bring her family everything it needs. It could also stop Wing getting the one thing she wants.

Publication Date: January 5, 2017

 6. The Scarecrown Queen (Sin Eater's Daughter #3) by Melinda Salisbury

I am mixed parts excited and absolutely terrified for this book. I loved the first 2 books in the series and can't wait to read more but at the same time Melinda is well known for how brutally evil she is with readers hearts so I am petrified.

Continuing the Sleeping Prince's reign everyone must come together for the final battle against him. "Explosive, rich and darkly addictive, this is the stunning conclusion to Mel Salisbury's internationally best-selling trilogy that began with The Sin Eater's Daughter."

Publication Date: March 2, 2017

 5. Roseblood by AG Howard

Splintered was one of my all time fave series. I love a good retelling and this one is a retelling of Phantom of the Opera, which is my all time favourite musical.

Rune is sent to a french opera house, rumoured to be haunted by the phantom, for her senior year where she befriends the masked Thorne, a violinish who helps her throughout her dreams. But can Thorne lead Rune to her destruction or is he to face the wrath of the phantom?

Publication Date: January 10, 2017

4. Our Dark Duet (Monsters of Verity #2) by VE Schwab

Note: This is the US cover, the UK cover has not yet been revealed
The sequel to This Savage Song, which I adored I am so excited to see what is going to happen next.

Six months after Kate and August were forced together the war between the monsters is terrifying. August and Kate are once again thrown into the fight.

Publication Date: June 13, 2017

3. Traitor to the Throne (Rebel of the Sands #2) by Alwyn Hamilton

I absolutely loved Rebel of the Sands and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Set six months after the events of Rebel of the Sands Amani finds herself in the midst of the fight once again. Only one thing is certain, everything is going to change.

Publication Date: March 7, 2017

2. A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses #3) by Sarah J Maas

I am such an enormous fan of Sarah J Maas and the ACOTAR series is mt favourite of hers. I cannot wait to get my hands on this book. It would have been number 1 but I wanted a proper cover for number 1.

Continuing from the shocking conclusion of ACOMAF Feyre is back inside the spring court waiting for the invading king. She has to decide who she can trust.

Publication Date: May 2, 2017

1. Wonder Woman: Warbringer (DC Icons #1) by Leigh Bardugo

Now although I adore my superhero books / movies, honestly I prefer Marvel heros over DC. However when it was announced that DC had teamed up with Random House for some YA authors to write novels on some of the superheros I was so flipping excited. I haven't actually yet read any of Leigh Bardugo's books before but I am so flipping excited for this one!!!!

Publication Date: August 29, 2017

10. Leo from The Longest Holiday by Paige Toon

The Longest Holiday was one of my fave books of the year (obviously, it's by Paige Toon). I absolutely loved Leo. He really grows on you a lot throughout the book and by the end he was just amazing. He is sweet and caring and the perfect guy for a summer romance read.

K-Books Rating: 5 Stars (Click Here to see Review)

9. Ren from Torn (Wicked #2) by Jennifer L Armentrout

Ren is the sweetest guy and I absolutely adore him. He had a tough time in this book but it just made me love him even more. He is really sweet and adorable and so caring. Of course Tink totally stole the limelight but Ren is definitely one of the best fictional guys I read about this year.

K-Books Rating: 5 Stars (Click Here to see Review)

 8. Morpheus from Ensnared (Splintered #3) by AG Howard

It's no surprise to anyone who knows me how much I was Team Morpheus throughout this series. This year I finally read the third book and again I adored Morpheus. He is eccentric, hilarious and amazing. I loved him the most and I just wanted to run off to Wonderland with Morpheus 💜

K-Books Rating: 5 Stars (Click Here to see Review)

7. Caleb from Balance (Balance #1) by Janelle Stalder

Caleb was such an awesome character. He really grows on you throughout the book as he starts off as a bit of a dick. Ignoring everyone and then just bossing her around but by the end you totally understand him and he is amazing.

K-Books Rating: 4 Stars (Click Here to see Review)

 6. Ryn from The Faerie Guardian (Creepy Hollow #1) by Rachel Morgan

Ryn was the guy in the book that you really don't think will be a love interest because he's a total ass to begin with. I however loved him. He's cocky and a bit of an asshole but he grew on me and although he is a bit hostile I know there's a reason behind it and I couldn't wait to find out more about him. I totally loved him.

K-Books Rating: 5 Stars (Click Here to see Review)

 5. Seth from The Power (Titan Series #2) by Jennifer L Armentrout

Seth was a character that grew on me. I hated him so much in the Covenant series but in his own spin off series I started to love him. Even if I did want to dropkick him in the face for being an idiot in this one I still love him and can't wait till February so I can read more in The Struggle.

K-Books Rating: 5 Stars (Click Here to see Review)

 4. Rhysand from A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses #2) by Sarah J Maas

Ahh Rhysand!!!! I liked him in the first book but I adored him in this one. He is just wonderful and amazing and perfect and I have so much love for him and this book. I cannot wait for ACOWAR to see what happens to him next.

K-Books Rating: ALL OF THE STARS!!!! (Click Here to see Review)

 3. Tom/Jack from The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson (Jessie Jefferson #1) by Paige Toon

Now this is one of the series where I have such trouble deciding between the two main guys. I really like Tom, who is the super-sweet hottest-boy-in-school who is there for Jessie as she is dealing with her mother's death. Then Jessie met Jack, the super hot guitarist in LA who fronts a new band who introduced Jessie to the Hollywood lifestyle. I loved Jack. I just cannot decide between the two of them.

K-Books Rating: 5 Stars (Review will go live in January)

 2. Ollie from Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon

Ollie is one of the sweetest guys ever. I absolutely adored him. He is sweet and so adorable who just wants to get to know Maddie. He teaches her about the world and everything and I just love them. I just wanted everything to work out with them.

K-Books Rating: 5 Stars (Click Here to see Review)

1. Matthew from The Next Together (The Next Together #1) by Lauren James

Imagine a book with a perfect, adorable, sweet leading male. Now picture a time travel book where you have about 7 or 8 reincarnations of that character. That's what you have in this book. Matthew is the epitome of the perfect guy and there are many many versions of him in this and you fall in love with each and every one of them. I adored this book, and Matthew, so much.

From Goodreads:
Dash and Lily have been dating for nearly a year, but when Lily’s beloved grandfather falls ill, the repercussions take their toll on everyone. Even though they are still together, somehow the magic has gone out of their relationship and it’s clear that Lily has fallen out of love with life.

Action must be taken! Dash teams up with Lily’s brother and a host of their friends, who have just twelve days to get Lily’s groove back in time for Christmas.

After devouring Dash and Lily's Book of Dares I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. I fell in love with Rachel and David's writing and their characters and I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen to them next. The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily is a cute addition to the series and I enjoyed it.

Dash and Lily have been dating for a year but throughout the year things happen that make them distant with each other. Worse than that Lily is not excited for Christmas, which is her favourite time of the year. Dash and Langston put aside their differences to try and get Lily's Christmas spirit back, with some hilarious and adorable consequences.

I really liked The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily, it was cute and I really enjoyed it. I personally didn't think it was necessary and it didnt really add anything to the original story but it was a cute short christmas story and any fans of the original will enjoy it.

I really liked that Dash was as snarky yet cute as ever and you really get to see the softer side to him in this one. Lily made me sad throughout this book because she seemed like a different character but I loved seeing everything that happened with her to get the real Lily back.

If you're looking for a cute christmassy romance to read then this is definitely the book to read. It was enjoyable and well worth a read.

Top 10 of 2016: Day 2 - Best Book Covers of 2016

Hey Guys,
Welcome to Day 2 of Top 10 of 2016. Today I'm going to be talking about the Top 10 Book Covers of the year. These are books that were released in 2016 and for the first time ever I have included all books I read this year as well.

I always intend to include books I've read but usually I read older books. I'm quite impressed with myself this year as I've read a lot of 2016 released on the day they release 😱 I never do that!!

Anyway from the 2016 books I've read this year here are my 10 favourite covers.

10. The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily (Dash and Lily #2) by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

This cover is the UK Zoella Book Club Edition that was recently published and I really love this cover. It's so beautiful and christmassy which fits so well with the story. I really love it.
I also really liked this story. Not as much as the first book in teh Dash and Lily series but it was super cute.

K-Books Rating: 3 Stars (Review will be on the blog tomorrow so come by and look)

 9. Unboxed by Non Pratt

I've said it before and I will say it again I FREAKING LOVE NON PRATT!!!! And Unboxed was so beautiful inside and out.

Look at that cover. It's so simple and elegent and beautiful. I was so excited to get this book. I adored it and it's still one of my fave covers of all time.

K-Books Rating: 5 Stars (Click Here to see Review)

 8. Paper Princess (The Royals #1) by Erin Watt

I adored this series as you saw on my list yesterday but I adore the covers even more. I am such a big cover person. For me to buy a book in hardcopy the cover has to be gorgeous and one thing I love about the whole series is that they are so differnt from other NA series. I get bored of the couples almost kissing, or couples half naked on the covers. These are refreshing and beautiful.

K-Books Rating: 4 Stars (Click Here to see Review)

 7. Balance (Balance Series #1) by Janelle Stalder

Janelle has forever been one of my fave authors and all of her books have gorgeous covers but this one is my fave. It's so stunningly beautiful and matches how gorgeous the inside of this book is as well.

K-Books Rating: 4 Stars (Click Here to see Review)

 6. Flawed (Flawed #1) by Cecelia Ahern

I have chose to show the UK cover here as I love it so so much but really I love both the US and UK covers for this series. I love the colour and how shiny the F symbol in the centre is on the hardcover is. I also love how the hardback for the US edition is and how the dustcover is slightly transparent to see what's on the actual hardback. Both fit the book perfectly.

K-Books Rating: 5 Stars (Click Here to see Review)

 5. This Savage Song (Monsters of Verity #1) by VE Schwab

Again I've decided to post the UK cover of This Savage Song as I love how simple and beautiful is and I love the splash that turns into a rose but I do love both covers. This was one of my favourite books of the year but I decided to only inlcude one VE Schwab book in my list yesterday and I chose Vicious.

K-Books Rating: 5 Stars (Click Here to see Review)

 4. Rebel of the Sands (Rebel of the Sands #1) by Alwyn Hamilton

I have loved this cover long before this book was published this year. It's stunning and gorgeous. I originally heard of the book at YALC 2015 and I adored it so so much. I'm not entirely sure what the US cover looks like but the UK one is just perfect for the story.

K-Books Rating: 5 Stars (Click Here to see Review)

 3. The One We Fell in Love With by Paige Toon

I am such a huge fan of Paige Toon. I really adore all of her books. I am more in love with her fun original covers that the repackaged ones but the font on this one really made it feel like those original ones to me. This particular cover is the edition for the Zoella Book Club and of course I love it more because it's purple. And who doesn't love a gorgeous purple cover?

K-Books Rating: 5 Stars (Review will be posted in January)

 2. Three Dark Crowns (Three Dark Crowns #1) by Kendare Blake

Now not only did we get one gorgeous cover in the UK but we got three stunning covers, one for each of the sisters. I honestly can't choose between them either. I have yet to get the finished copy but I want every single one of them.

K-Books Rating: 3 Stars (Click Here to see Review)

1. Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass #5) by Sarah J Maas

Look at it!! Just look at it!!!! How could this not be my favourite cover of 2016 books. It's absolutely stunning. Look how beautiful and bad-ass Aelin looks. With the sword and the fire. It's just utter perfection *dies*

I love it sooooo much 😍💜😍💜😍💜

K-Books Rating: 5 Stars (Click Here to see Review)
